7 arrested in Lal Chand murder case so far, combing operation underway: Home Affairs Advisor
After the meeting of the Law and Order Advisory Committee in the meeting room of the Home Ministry at the Secretariat this morning, the Home Affairs Advisor told reporters, “The murder that took place in Mitford in the capital is very sad and barbaric. Such an incident is in no way acceptable in a civilized society.”
He said that 7 people have been arrested so far out of 19 accused in the case filed in the Mitford incident. It is also being investigated whether there was any laxity on the part of the law enforcement agencies in the investigation of this case.
The Home Affairs Advisor said, “No matter who the criminal is, no one will be spared on the basis of political identity. The law is equal for all.” He said that preparations are underway to take the trial of the Mitford murder to a speedy trial tribunal. One person has also been arrested in another recent murder case in Khulna.
In response to a question from journalists, Jahangir Alam said, “No one called the police’s ‘Triple Nine’ number in the Mitford incident. Even though Ansar members were nearby, no one informed them.”
The Home Affairs Advisor said that the government is taking necessary measures as various crimes including murder, theft, robbery, extortion, women’s abuse, terrorism, drug smuggling and others are increasing in the country. To this end, law enforcement agencies will now conduct special combing operations in addition to regular operations.
The government plans to complete all preparations for the national elections by December 31, the Home Affairs Advisor said. To that end, the Home Affairs Advisor hopes that the combing operation will play an important role in maintaining the law and order situation before the elections.
